About Me

 Skilled | Diligent | Adaptable | Fun!

Goals

Career: I aspire to excel in game design through hard work, cooperation, and creativity. While working on games, I aim to create an enjoyable experience for players while providing them the opportunity to learn about something along the way, whether it's an interesting fact, how healthy relationships work, or challenge their critical thinking skills. I strive to challenge myself and grow as a game developer and professional with every project I contribute to.

Family: Family is very important to me. My parents have provided guidance and support throughout my life that have instilled a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic within me. I desire to give back to them and my two younger brothers throughout the rest of my life.

Myself: I seek to be a better person everyday. Respect, honesty, and diligence are all values I actively implement in my life. Being open to new experiences and relationships to grow my understanding of the world and of other people is important to me.

A Long Love of Game Design

I have had a love for creating games from a young age. The creature, vehicle, and building creator in the game SPORE consist of some of my earliest memories. The gameplay of SPORE on hard difficulty was too much of a challenge in my early youth, so my two younger brothers and I would gather around my dad, clambering onto his shoulders, to watch him play the more difficult stages of the game. Games have always been a key element with my relationship with my brothers, from hosting D&D campaigns, to exploring Minecraft worlds, and even creating trading cards in our youth inspired by our favorite fantasy characters. That creativity and joy continues in my work to this day.

Grand strategy games and cats are two of my favorite things in life!

Lessons from Games

I am a firm believer that games can teach us about ourselves and the world around us, even if many of them take place in fantasy environments. I first became interested in video game learning and serious games when I found myself becoming obsessed with world history after playing grand strategy games such as Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis IV. After excelling in AP Exam for World History, I started thinking about how video games could potentially be used to teach, or simply motivate, students to learn other topics.

During my time at George Mason University, I had two formative experiences that furthered my interest in the world of serious games. The first was an opportunity a business professor at George Mason provided me where I worked on multiple serious games involving bias and OSHA standards. The second was with a small VR serious game company where I created a VR experience for senior living communities. Both exposures to serious games enabled me to see the application of my work in professional environments for the first time.

The Great Outdoors

When I'm not creating or playing games, I enjoy exploring nature (unless it's a spiderweb in my face during a morning run). Whether it's whitewater rafting with friends on the New River Gorge or running an ultramarathon in the Appalachian Mountains, I love being outside and doing all things physical! Ultimate frisbee, running, hiking, and hanging out in a body of water are all activities which I have a hard time turning down.
